James Willis Hood, 75, of Philadelphia, PA, passed on Sunday, March 3rd, peacefully at home. Jim was born on June 19th, 1948, and raised in Huntington Valley, PA. He was the son of the late Delmar Willis Hood and Ruth Marie (Trump) Hood. Jim was a graduate of Abington Senior High School. He proudly served in the US Army from 1969-1971, as a 1st Lieutenant. After returning from Vietnam, he studied Applied Science at Penn State Ogontz. Jim was employed at Smith Kline in the Visual Arts Dept for 17 years. Following his career at Smith Kline he founded Philadelphia Photographics. Jim was an avid motorcyclist having competed in both track and dirt bike racing, His passion for riding spanned 60 years. Jim is survived by his spouse of 43 years, John H. Praul, as well as his seven siblings: Alice Buchanan, Margaret Kirkpatrick, Steven Hood, Roger Hood, John Hood, Robert Hood, and Mark Hood. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. Jim will be sadly missed by his in-laws; Susan Praul, Laurie (Praul) Vasquez, Edward Praul, Richard Praul (his wife Liz) and Judy Praul, as well as many more nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Edgehill Fire Dept Hall 2843 Limekiln Pike, North Hills, PA.
