James P. Mcfadden

September 9, 1942 — January 3, 2025

James Patrick McFadden, age 82, of Warrington, PA, formerly of Philadelphia and a proud native of Germantown, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, surrounded by his family.

James was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 55 years, Barbara; his parents, Dennis and Agnes; and his brother, Richard. He is survived by his loving family: children Janet Scanlon (Brian) and Joanne Rosenthal (Ronald); grandchildren Brian (Angie), Erin, Melanie (Sean), Ryan (Kayla), Bridget, Megan, Maura, and Tyler; and great-grandchildren Paris, Kennedy, and Rowan. James is also survived by his brother, Dennis, and sister, Catherine.

James remembered his early days in the neighborhood around Penn and Magnolia in Germantown very fondly. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School before enrolling in the Army, after which he dedicated his career to the Philadelphia Police Force, where he served with distinction and retired as Inspector in 1994. During this time, he also received a degree in Criminal Justice from LaSalle College. Following his retirement he devoted many years to operating Storybook Children's Center in Philadelphia.

James was known for his loyalty, generosity, allegiance to the Blessed Mother and devotion to his family, especially his wife, Barbara. Though he will be missed here on earth, he is now at peace, reunited with her.
