James D. Petersen, age 61 of Bensalem passed away at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, surrounded by his family after a short illness on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Born in Philadelphia to the late Edwin and Marion (nee Fager) Petersen. His brother, Mark also precedes him in death. Jim was an avid Guitarist, a third-degree black belt, and a faithful follower of Jesus. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was also a Heavy Equipment Operator in Local Union 825 for many years. He found great joy in using his musical gifts at church, while also using his construction background to help serve the needs of the church. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, wonderful Grand-Pop, and a loyal friend to all that knew him. Jim is survived by his wife of 19 years, Merry D. (nee Gibson); 4 children, Jason (Rebecca), Ashley Buxton, Natalie, and Jimmy; 4 siblings, Valarie Acker (Bruce), Gary (Bonnie), John, and Lori DeMarco (Adam); 3 grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ryder, and Carter James. Family and friends are invited to a CELEBRATION OF LIFE service: Christian Life Center; 3100 Galloway Road, Bensalem, PA 19020; at 10 am on Thursday, September 2, 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Sandy Cove Ministries.
