Jane Hannon went into the hands of God on August 29, 2026 and joined her mother, Marion Hannon, father, Leo Hannon, sister, Beth Hannon, niece, Kayce Hannon and nephew, Craig Barker.
Jane, or “Janie” to her family, was born on March 17th, 1965 and she fully embraced her Irish spirit, so it was no coincidence she shared her birthday with St. Patrick. Janie’s birthday festivities ranged from splitting the G at the Dubliner on Capitol Hill to oceanfront stays at the Ritz Carlton in Miami Beach.
Jane was a phenomenal aunt to her brother Jim and sister Pattie’s kids, Shawn, Shailagh, Craig, Patrick, Erica, Rachel, Kayce, Mari Kay and Jack. Family time was split between her childhood home in Wilmington, also referred to as “Memom and Da’s”, her house on Capitol Hill and everybody’s favorite, Long Beach in Rockport Massachusetts.
Jane loved politics from an early age, so she fittingly earned her Bachelor's of Arts from The Catholic University of America in Washington DC. Janie continued her education at her father’s alma mater, Boston College, where she earned her MBA and would apply that in the world of financial marketing in DC.
There was nothing better than having a hard laugh with Janie, her sense of humor was so sharp. Aside from laughing about funny stories with Janie, discussing the state of the country, how to fix it and the world of financial marketing were always our favorite conversations.
Owning a beautiful house right behind the Capitol in DC was something Janie took pride in and did very well. There was no better display of that than when she hosted Da’s 90th birthday party where we celebrated her father at in impeccable brick house with family who traveled all the way down from Massachusetts.
Janie will be loved, missed and remembered by all her family and friends every day, and the best thing we can do is try to be as intelligent, witty and driven as she was.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass 10:30 am on Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. Family will receive family and friends from 9-10:15 am at the church. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass in the adjoining cemetery.
