Jane A. Smyk-Taphorn

Jane Baranowski Smyk-Taphorn was born on April 3, 1923 in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., She passed away on February 1, 2012 in Royersford Pa. Jane graduated from West Conshohocken High School in 1941. She married Peter Smyk on November 24, 1945 at age 22, Peter died in January of 1980. Jane then married Lawrence Taphorn in 1981. Peter and Jane had two daughters, Mary Jane, now married to Lawrence Harrison and Dr. Michele Smyk-Strom, now married to Paul Strom. Mary Jane and Larry have two daughters, Kristina Harrison-Swede and Kimberly Harrison-Harper. Jane has three great granddaughters, Madelyn Elizabeth and Gracey Ann, daughters of Kristina and Dr. Douglas Swede. Addison Kay Harrison-Harper, daughter of Kim and Jess Harrison-Harper. Jane had five siblings, her sisters, Stella Baranowski and Mary Schmidt and brothers, John, Joseph and Anthony Baranowski preceded her in death. Jane was a member of Visitation B.V.M. church for over 50 years. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Saturday, February 4th from 9 to 9:55 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Visitation B.V.M. Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd., Norristown. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken. Arrangements entrusted to Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, PC.
