Janice C. Rackovan

May 4, 1953 — March 7, 2025

Janice Rackovan (Cunningham) passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 in Phoenixville, PA, where she was a long time resident. Her 71 years were full of love, support and devotion to her family and friends. Janice was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 4, 1953. She was the daughter of the late William J and Helen C (Hollenberg) Cunningham. From an early age, Janice was taught the importance of faith and family values. She received her Nursing degree from Bryn Mawr Nursing School and went on to get her B.S. in Psychology from St Joseph University. With the desire to help others, she worked as head nurse at Booth Maternity Hospital and most recently, a hospice nurse at Einstein Medical.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in King of Prussia, where she served in many different roles, church secretary, parish nurse, director of Vacation Bible School, and was involved with many Outreach programs. She aided

in developing the successful Lydia’s visitors program for those unable to attend services. In 2013 she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and unfortunately in 2021 was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). She joined many

different support groups including Living with MBC and Pink Sisters. She was also an active member of Unite for HER. She met and supported many people along the way.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Janice loved traveling with her husband. Every summer she would be at her shore house in Ocean City, NJ where she enjoyed sitting on the beach and jumping in the

waves with her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years this May, Fred M. Rackovan; two daughters, Erin J Malarchik (Jason), Jenna L Dufresne (Jon), 3 grandchildren; Faith, Hunter and Elle; two sisters, Judy Beck (Fred) and Jeannette Izzo (Mark) her

brother-in-law, John Passfeld and many other loving family members a friends.

Janice is preceded in death by her oldest sister, Vickie Passfeld and her parents

.

Janice’s legacy is one that will continue to inspire and encourage others. Her commitment to family, friends and the community serves as a testament to the person she was. As we say our final goodbye to one of God’s angels here on earth, we remember and celebrate a wonderful life. Her memory will live on in everyone she touched.
