Janice Ann Westman

Janice Ann Westman (Mingo) passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, after an 11 month long battle with pancreatic cancer. Her husband, Dennis, and daughter, Chloe, were by her side.

Janice was born on July 23, 1954, in Chester, Pennsylvania to Margaret and Ernie Mingo. She attended Immaculate Conception grade school in Marcus Hook and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1972. On January 29, 1977, she married Dennis Westman, and their 46 years of devotion to each other is an inspiration to all who knew them.

She began working for AstraZeneca in 1980 and retired in 2012. She spent her retirement doing what she loved most: spending time with family and friends. Janice never turned down an opportunity to be in the company of others, and it was a rare music event in Wilmington where she and Dennis were not in attendance.

She loved animals, good food, good music, and sharing a laugh. She was patient, she was kind, and she lit up every space she entered. A smile, a kiss on the cheek, and a “Hi honey!” from Janice brought joy to all who got to experience it - and anyone who knew Janice experienced it often.

Janice was predeceased by her father, Ernie Mingo Sr., mother, Margaret Mingo, and brother, Ernie Mingo Jr. She is survived by her husband Dennis, daughter Chloe, sister Carol and husband Tom (Twardowski), her nieces, nephew, their children, and many, many friends. We are eternally grateful to have known her, to have loved her, and to have been loved by her.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a prayer service at 12pm, on Saturday, October 21, at St. Helena Roman Catholic Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, Delaware. Reception to follow.
