Janine P. Gisler

August 21, 1928 — January 22, 2014

Gisler, Janine P. (née Dutôit) (a/k/a “Joan”) age 85 of Gwynedd, PA, passed away on January 22, 2014.  She was born on August 21, 1928, to the late Maurice B. and Pauline Genier Dutôit in Moudon, Canton Vaud, Switzerland.  She met and married her late husband of 57 years, Maurice J. Gisler, when they were students there.  In 1948 the couple returned to the U.S.  In 1973, she earned her Associates Degree from Montgomery County Community College.  Beginning in 1974 she worked for 17 years at the Delegation of the European Union to the U.S. in Washington, D.C.  She began her career as a tri-lingual secretary to the Chancellor, then as secretary to Ambassador Sir Roy Denman, and lastly as legal secretary to the EU’s International Law department.  In 1990, she and her husband retired to Pennsylvania.    She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Perkiomen Valley Council 3633 Knights of Columbus, the Ladies Auxiliary of the International Order of the Alhambra.  More recently she was second vice-president for 11 years of the Green Lane-Marlboro Lioness Club, volunteered at the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library at Red Hill and a hospice volunteer at Foulkeways. Her interests included:  Alpine mountain climbing and skiing, cooking, reading and traveling.  Janine is survived by 5 children: Janine Warnas, Maurice B. (Shelley), Annee Kuehler (Wayne), Yvonne Gisler (Douglas Fry) and Suzanne Gisler Metzler (H. Robert), ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Cecilia Kirkwood (George) and their 4 children, and her niece Nada Lopandîc Antonelli (Jean Pierre) in Switzerland.  Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the National Parkinson Foundation or the American Heart Association.  Family will receive relatives and friends  Tuesday 10-11AM  and a  A Funeral Mass will  follow at 11 AM at St. Philip Neri Church 1325 Klinerd Rd. Pennsburg, PA 18073.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pennsburg, PA.
