Jay Paul Bowen, Sr.

Jay Paul Bowen, Sr., 87, a resident of North Wales, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 surrounded by family at his residence. He was born in Perkasie, PA on June 20, 1932, to the late Florence (Hunsburger) and Paul A. Bowen. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce Braswell (Van) and his brother James (who is survived by his wife Kathleen). He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He worked as a Firefighter for the City Of Philadelphia for 25 Years and also, worked for Sloane Moving & Storage. After his retirement, he became the groundskeeper for St. John's Lutheran Church in Schuylkill Haven, PA. Jay enjoyed time spent with his family, hunting, fishing and football. One of his favorite places to be was up in the mountains. Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary E. Bowen (Fenzil); his children Jay Paul, Jr. (Judy), Mark (Nancy), Patricia Babula (Len), Gregory (Robin), George (Dawn), Thomas (Gina) and Paul (Chrissy); his sister Janice Linfoot (Jerry) and his sister-in-law Kathleen Bowen. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, 602 West Avenue in Jenkintown, PA. Social distancing and the use of facial masks will be observed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jay’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Salvation Army.
