Joan Frances (nee Humphreys) Carpenter passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday December 27, 2023, after a long battle with dementia and illness. She has been a long time resident of King of Prussia for 62 years, and a loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Born in Philadelphia on January 15, 1935, Joan is the daughter of the late Walter and Florence (nee Hoffman) Humphreys. Raised in Philadelphia on Alcott St, she graduated from Frankford High School. She retired from the Montgomery County Courthouse in 2008. She was known for her fantastic handwriting, her organization and her ability to treat everyone with love and kindness. She enjoyed vacationing in Cape May, Maine, Florida as well as shopping trips to Lancaster.
Surviving her is her devoted and loving husband of 67 years, Ronald, her two daughters: Tracy Whalen and Karen (Joseph) Wallace: and four grandchildren: Bradley Whalen, Renee Whalen, Kacy Wallace and Kelly Wallace. Joan was preceded in death by her sister Lois Oakley.
Relatives and friends are invited to Joan’s services at Valley Forge Presbyterian Church, 191 Town Center Rd. in King of Prussia on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Visitation is from 10:00am to 11:00am. A service will be held at the church from 11:00am to 11:30. Interment will be private at Forest Hills Cemetery following services.
