Joan “Connie” Groff, age 92, of Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully on November 29th surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born in the Germantown section of Philadelphia to the late John Raymond Toner and Helen Toner Centrella. She spent her childhood helping in her Grandmother’s candy store and attending the many dances hosted around town. She was a proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School in 1949 and at age 18 began working for the Philadelphia Insurance Company. Two years later Connie began to fulfill her dream of becoming a dedicated wife and mother. Connie’s life was centered around her love for children. In addition to raising her own large family she spent many years caring for the children of others. Connie’s door was always open for extended family in need of a place to stay, a place to host a wedding or just to have a loud and rousing game night. “Groffy Coffee” was a regular occurrence at her home and the memories made around her kitchen table will be forever cherished by so many.
Connie’s faith was her rock throughout her life. She was a dedicated member of St. Eleanor’s Parrish and participated in the Church’s Adoration Chapel for many years.
Connie was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, Richard Arthur Groff, Sr. in 2017, her husband of 13 years, Joseph Francis Dickinson in 1964 and her brother William Charles Centrella. She is survived by her nine children; Michael (Michelle), Kathleen Intoccia, Thomas (Bobbie Sue), Joseph (Cynthia), Robert (Fernanda), Richard, Jr, Janet, Rebecca Stillman (Robert) and David, 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and her brother, John Raymond Centrella.
