Joan Denise McMahon, age 72 of Lansdale, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 22, 2021. Joan was born in Philadelphia on November 26, 1948 to the late George and Ellen Graham. Joan graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls. Joan was a devout Catholic, inspired by her devotion to the Virgin Mary. She served as a longstanding member of Philadelphia Legatus and as a Eucharistic Minister at Visitation BVM. She was a loving wife and dedicated mother, who placed family above all else. The love of her children was best exemplified by her tireless commitment to their Catholic upbringing and education. She delivered on this commitment through volunteering at their schools, their activities and within the broader community. For 20 years, she served in a variety of capacities, including as a lunch mom and CYO champion at Visitation BVM, as a Cub Scout den leader, and as a volunteer for West Norriton Little League. Joan best personified motherhood through faith and service. After raising her five children, Joan transitioned into the family business, well-recognized by every customer as the friendly face sure to strike up a conversation with everyone that entered McMahon Automotive Group. Joan was defined by her selflessness and empathy, always seeing the good in others and striving to make others around her happy. Joan is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph McMahon; 5 children, Michael (Megan), PJ (Jessica), Brian (Mary Ann), Kelly Sarb (Kevin), and Thomas (Jamie); 4 siblings, Joseph Graham (Sharon), Eileen McNeill (Thomas), Mary Posek (Dave), and Francis Graham (Betsy); and 14 grandchildren.
