John G. "Knute" Allerton, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He was 84. Mr. Allerton was a resident of Norristown, PA and worked as a Bartender for Rahill's Tavern in Norristown, PA. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. John was a member of the VFW Post in Norristown, PA and served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WWII. He received the Purple Heart for wounds in action on February 12, 1944.Born in Norristown, PA on December 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Florence C. (Slaughter) and John G. Allerton, Sr. Surviving are his loving family including two sons, John T. Allerton and his wife, Aileen of Erdenheim, PA and Michael Allerton and his wife, Nancy E. of Glenside, PA; a daughter, Kathy A. Kuehrmann and her husband, Bill of Glenside, PA; 7 grandchildren: Zachary, Hannah, Gina, Otto, Alyssa, Claire and Fred; and a great grandson, Lucian. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeane MacBean. Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Monday, June 14, 2010 from 6 to 7:30pm. Funeral service and interment private at the request of his family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the WWII Veterans Memorial, American Battle Monuments & Commissions, PO Box 96766, Washington DC 20090-6766.
