John 'Jack' S. Baker

John "Jack" S. Baker, Sr. passed away on January 1, 2011 at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. He was 68. Jack was a resident of Bridgeport, PA and worked as a clerk for the US Supply Co. in West Conshohocken, PA. He was a member of St. Augustine R.C. Church in Bridgeport, PA. Jack was a life-long member and Captain of the Fire Police for the Goodwill Fire Co. in Bridgeport, PA. He was a social member at Bridgeport Vol. Fire Co. #1, Swedesburg Vol. Fire Co. and Liberty Fire Co. in Spring City, PA. He was an instructor for 18 years at the Montgomery County Fire Academy. Jack was a member of the Elks Lodge 714 and VFW Post 840, both in Bridgeport, PA and the AOH Club in Swedesburg, PA. He loved playing golf, video games, bowling and shooting pool. Jack was in the US Navy for over 20 years, serving in the Vietnam War.Born in Norristown, PA on June 2, 1942, he was a son of the late Helen M. (Wanczyk) and William H. Baker, Sr. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 44 years, Patricia "Pat" K. (Schaefer) Baker of Bridgeport, PA; three sons: John S. Baker, Jr. of Bridgeport, PA, Christopher I. Baker, Sr. and his wife, Charlene of Bridgeport, PA and William J. Baker and his wife, Suzzane of Bridgeport, PA; 4 grandchildren: Christopher I. Jr., Korinna, Jared and Brayden; three brothers: William H. Baker, Jr. and his wife, Sandy of PA, James V. Baker, Sr. and his wife, Anna of Trooper, PA and George V. Baker, Sr. and his wife, Ruth of Skippack, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa. Relatives and friends are invited to his Prayer service at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., (Rt. 202) Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 10am. His viewings will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8pm, and Wednesday morning from 9 to 9:50am, both at the funeral home. Internment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the Goodwill Fire Co., 304 Bush St., Bridgeport, PA 19405.
