John J. Carroll, Sr.

John J. Carroll Sr. passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at his residence in Audubon, PA. He was 85. Mr. Carroll was a former resident of Upper Merion and Blue Bell, PA. He worked as a mechanical engineer for PECO Energy. He was a former member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, PA. Mr. Carroll served as a Merchant Marine in the US Coast Guard.Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 24, 1927, he was a son of the late Arthur W. and Marion T. (Torpey) Carroll. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 62 years, Mary M. (McDevitt) Carroll; 4 sons: John J. Carroll, Jr. and his wife, Mary Jo, of W. Berlin, NJ, Edward Carroll and his wife, Jan, of Quakertown, PA, Richard Carroll and his wife, Janet, of Kansas City, MO and Joseph Carroll of Upper Providence, PA; 5 daughters: Patricia Carroll of Malvern, PA, Rita Koch and her husband, Michael, of Downingtown, PA, Eileen Ritter and her husband, Rich, of King of Prussia, PA, Margaret Lawson of Blue Bell, PA, and Loretta Oustrich and her husband, Jay, of Phoenixville, PA; 16 grandchildren: 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur W. Carroll of Princeton, NJ; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Reynolds.Relatives & friends are invited to John's Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:30 am. His viewings are Wednesday evening from 5 to 7:00 pm, at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA 19405; also Thursday morning from 9 to 10:20 am, at the church.
