John William Lang, 78, of Audubon, PA passed away on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at Kindred Hospital, Havertown, PA. John was born in Beaver, PA on December 6th, 1945, to the late William and Dorothy (Majors) Lang Fisher.
John is survived by his wife, Emily; children Matthew John (Hilary), Christine Bennett (David), and Elizabeth; grandchildren David Bennett, Jr., Julia Bennett, Aidan Bennett, Phoebe Lang and Hugh Lang; brother Thomas Lang (Marion); sisters Janice Mitchell and Mary Ann McGarvey (Doug); and several nieces and nephews.
John received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Geneva College and his master’s in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He proudly served our country as a sergeant in the United States Air Force. John loved building a pond in his elaborate garden with a fountain, gardening, pouring concrete projects, making wine from a homemade wine press, and tinkering around the house and yard. He worked for many years in engineering for Richardson & Gordon Associates in Pittsburgh and Greiner / URS Corporation in the Philadelphia area designing bridges and roadways. His crowning achievement was the new suspension bridge for the Route 33 Extension project in Lehigh County, PA.
John was an active member of Visitation BVM church and served as a Lector, Altar Server, Atlar Server Trainer, Usher, and RCIA, Bible Study and Prep instructor.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:45 am followed by a funeral mass at 11 am at Visitation BVM Roman Catholic Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd. Norristown, PA. Burial will be private.
