John T. "Jack" McDevitt, 78, of Glenside, PA passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Abington Memorial Hospital. John was born in Phila., PA on July 11, 1942, a son of the late Dolores L. (Hart) and James F. McDevitt. He was the loving husband of Kathryn (nee Finlan). Stepfather of Robert Latshaw (Dona). Dearest brother of Dolores Clauss and her late husband Jack, James and his late wife Dot, and Rosemary France (Joseph). Brother-in-law of William Finlan (Linda), Jan Hopkins (Robert), Stephen Finlan (Delia), and John Finlan (Susan). He is also survived by cherished nieces, nephews, and lifetime friends. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era as a radioman in the Navy Submarine Service that led to a career in the semi-conductor field. He was active as a trumpeter in the Cardinal Dougherty High School Alumni Band, Reilly Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps, Bracken Cavaliers Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps and Sound Wave Jazz Band. He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks Lodge #2839. Jack remained close to his classmates at St. Athanasius Elementary School and shared in many social events with them. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Monday, June 7th from 10-10:50 AM and funeral mass at 11 AM both at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 2316 Fairhill Ave., Glenside, PA 19038.
