John M. Mycek passed away peacefully on July 5, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in King of Prussia. Born in Bryn Mawr on August 3, 1951, he was a son of the late John S. and Mary Rita (Esposto) Mycek. Surviving is his loving family: his wife, Christine “Chris” Novelli, daughter, Lauren Novelli (Thomas) Melcher, granddaughter, Peyton Melcher, brother, Alan (Liz) Mycek, sister, Dina (Stephen) Romano and nieces and nephews, Danielle, Andrea, Stephen Jr., Matthew and Marissa. John spent his summers in Brigantine, NJ since the age of 9 honing his surfing skills and made long lasting friendships with his fellow “long boarders”. He took many trips and surfed in some unusual and challenging destinations. An amateur photographer, John prided himself on getting ( sneaking ) to front row seats at concerts and capturing fabulous close up photos of many rock stars and musicians. A devoted Flyers fan, harking back to the Broad Street Bullies days. John was a season ticket holder for years and followed them through the good and bad seasons, never losing hope the Stanley Cup would once again return to “Philly”. One of John's last projects was to research and publish a book of inspirational quotes and sayings. He began working on this when he was diagnosed with cancer. He was extremely proud of this accomplishment and arranged for all proceeds to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. He would be happy to know people were googling John Mycek on Amazon.com and purchasing his book and finding the inspiration he did in any of his quotes. Relatives & friends are invited to John’s viewing at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 9 to 10:15 am. Eulogy will be at 10:20 am, and his Funeral Mass will start at 10:30 am. Interment will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516. Arrangements are by the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport. Condolences to the family at www.bacchifh.com
