John J. Saylor, Sr.

John J. Saylor Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Mercy Suburban Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. He was 73. Mr. Saylor was a resident of Norristown, PA. He worked as a steel worker for the former Alan Wood Steel Co. for 25 years. John enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his grandchildren in the park. Mr. Saylor was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era, serving from 1966 to 1968. He received a Purple Heart, a Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and a Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross.Born in Norristown, PA on December 25, 1940, he was a son of the late Francis R. Saylor, Sr. and Elsie Mae (Yorgey) Saylor. Surviving is his loving family including a son, David Saylor of N. Port, FL and his adopted son, Mark Estep of Norristown, PA; seven grandchildren: Crystal Chermansky, Alicia Cromley, Christina Applegate, John Cromley, Jacqueline Saylor, Kristen Saylor and Shannon Saylor; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Hanley of Norristown, PA; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by two sons, James R. Saylor and John J. Saylor, Jr.; four brothers and three sisters. Relatives and friends are invited to John's Funeral Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 8:00 pm.
