John W. Vuotto, formerly of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 yrs. on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Silver Stream Center in Spring House, PA. John loved his life and was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, and kind friend to many including all of God’s small and vulnerable creatures. He was a devoted Catholic as a member of Visitation BVM parish in Trooper, PA where he once served as a Eucharistic Minister and was an active member of the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. John was honored by Malvern Retreat House, PA for attending 50 yrs. of annual pilgrimages. John grew up in the east end of Norristown, PA and as a young boy learned songs on his guitar by listening to the radio. In 1941, he and his cousin went into McCoy’s on DeKalb Street and recorded a prairie song once made famous by the Carter Family called Cowboy Jack. John was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and served as a currency exchanger outside of London. He traveled extensively during his tour in Europe and spent time in Scotland, Paris and Rome where he created lasting relationships with families who hosted soldiers during wartime. Before serving abroad, John was stationed in Mississippi and Sacramento, CA. John was granted a quick furlough to marry his sweetheart, Mary T. Damiani of Bridgeport, PA on October 31, 1943. After the war ended they settled in Norristown and soon purchased their home in Jeffersonville, PA, where they lived together for the next 58 yrs., before Mary passed away in 2005. He was a sawmill machinist for 42 yrs. at Taylor Fiber in Betzwood, PA and enjoyed carpentry, photography, ballroom dancing, and taking road trips with his family and trailer. John was the seventh born son to the late Gaetano and Theresa (Ronca) Vuotto. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Salvatore “Pat”, Joseph, Frances and Daniel Vuotto; and three sisters: Philomena “Mamie” Stemple, Susan Pascucci and Ann Montleone. He is survived by a loving family including his daughter, Marylee “Lee” T. Vuotto; three grandsons: Mark Long, Jr., Joshua James Long and William (daughter-in-law, Katie) Long; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Thomas Long; and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Relatives & friends are invited to John’s services beginning on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 5-8 pm for an evening viewing at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405. John’s Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 with a morning viewing from 10-10:45 am, at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd, Trooper, PA 19403. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery Chapel in East Norriton, PA.
