John H. Welch

John H. Welch passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona, PA. He was 88. Mr. Welch worked as a printer for Pioneer Press in Philadelphia, PA, until his retirement in 1986. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WW II, serving as a 1st Lieutenant from 1942 to 1945.Born in Lawrence, MA on March 25, 1921, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Hannah E. (Mitchell) Welch. He was the husband of the late May E. (LeJeune) Welch who died in 1998. Surviving are his second wife, Anna (Beach) Veign-Welch; 2 step-sons; 4 step-daughters; a sister, Carolyn Hartigan; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward and Charles, and a sister, Eileen.Funeral services and interment will be private at the request of the family.
