John O. Williamson, 90 years old, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2009. Dearly loved father of Gary J. Williamson and Jill C. Westley (Larry). Son of the late Mary Abigail Williamson and Wilbur Warren Williamson. Grandfather to Melissa Williamson, Amy Gray (Greg) and Jessica Gunthner (deceased). Great-grandfather to Henry Gray. Brother to the late Virginia Johnson; deceased brothers, Stuart Williamson, Wilbur Williamson and Gordon Williamson. Cherished uncle of Stuart Johnson (Nancy) and Virginia Maminski (Stan) and numerous nieces and nephews.John was a resident of Philadelphia, Pa. before moving to Edgewater, Fla in 1998. He was a member of Frankford Presbyterian Church since the late 1940's, where he was ordained a deacon in 1956 and served several terms as a Trustee. He joined the Marine Corps in 1936 and went on to further his education after his tour of duty to become a Tool and Die Maker, originating his apprenticeship at the Frankford Arsenal during a good portion of World War II, eventually moving onto metal works/manufacturing industries. His love of bowling was demonstrated throughout his life as he always played in league competition in Philadelphia, as well as two teams in New Smyrna, Fla. John was an avid reader and demonstrated a wealth of knowledge and wit in all subject matters. He also had a passion for gardening and started several community gardens while in Phila.A memorial service was held at The Care Center, Hospice of Volusia/Flagler in Edgewater, Fla. Final interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, Pa., with a private graveside service for immediate family.The family has requested a donation in memory of John O. Williamson in lieu of flowers be sent to: Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
