Joseph M. Basile passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Blue Bell, PA. He was 78. Mr. Basile was a Commercial Realtor and founder of J.M. Basile & Associate. He was an active member of Holy Saviour Church, Norristown, PA. Joe was an author and historian. He was involved in numerous charitable organizations and was always willing to help others. Family and his grandchildren were most important to him. Joe was a veteran of the US Army National Guard. Born in Norristown, PA on May 7, 1938, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Pitocchi) Basile. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (Tornetta) Basile; a son, Gregory Basile and his wife, Karen, of Radnor, PA; two daughters, Suzanne Basile and her husband, Mark Bereda, of Parker Ford, PA and Stephanie Stein and her husband, Brian, of Plymouth Meeting, PA; 14 grandchildren: Cole, Aidan, Maci, Noah, Becca, Madelyn, Kaylie, Jessie, Mark, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Kira, Gavin and Rileigh; a sister, Valie Shivick; and a brother, John P. Basile. He was preceded in death by a son, John Joseph Basile, who died in 2012. Joe’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St., Norristown, PA on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to Holy Saviour Church, 407 E.
