Joseph Charles Bellitta, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA. He was 81. Mr. Bellitta was a resident of Norristown PA. He worked as a material handler for the former Handy & Harman Tube Company in E. Norriton, PA. Joseph was a member of Holy Saviour Church in Norristown, PA. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the MSS Club and the former VFW, all in Norristown, PA. Joseph enjoyed horse racing and playing cards. Mr. Bellitta was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving while stationed in Germany from 1950 to 1952.Born in Norristown, PA on February 24, 1928, he was a son of the late Pelegrino and Maria (Savona) Billetto. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 48 years, Stella E. (LaPenta) Bellitta; a daughter, Joanne M. Bondi and her husband, Joseph of Trooper, PA; a son, Joseph Charles Bellitta, Jr. and his companion, Maria E. Powell of Norristown, PA; a sister, Marie Muscarella of Norristown, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Phillip, James, Anthony and Sylvester "Cease"; and 4 sisters, Sadie Giovinco, Lillian Colucci, Vera Caruso and Anne Bertucci.Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Holy Saviour Church, 409 E. Main St. Norristown, PA on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 11:00am. His viewings are Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30pm and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:20am, both at The Bacchi-Courtney Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405.
