Joseph X. Brophy Sr. passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA. He was 79. Mr. Brophy was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He worked as a sales manager for Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake in Norristown, PA. Joe began his career at the Wanamaker Department Store in Philadelphia, where he met his wife, Elinor. In retirement, he ran a successful business called Things Gone Buy. Joseph was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, PA. Mr. Brophy was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a corporal from 1952 to 1953.Born in Philadelphia, PA on May 12, 1930, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Margaret L. (Brennan) Brophy. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 50 years, Elinor F. (Zickel) Brophy; three sons, Joseph X. Brophy, Jr. of King of Prussia, PA, Timothy M. Brophy of King of Prussia, PA and Denis E. Brophy and his wife, Karen of Lansdale, PA; a daughter, Theresa A. Schwartz of King of Prussia, PA; three grandchildren: Kyle G., Camryn L. and Kelly L.; one great-grandson, Adam S.; five brothers: Thomas Brophy, William Brophy and his wife, Martha, Jack Brophy and his wife, Pat, Richard Brophy and his wife, Helen and James Brophy; three sisters: Margaret Brophy, Elizabeth McClory and Lee Saute; and many nephews and nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service at The Bacchi-Courtney Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 7:00pm.
