Joseph G. Frye, Sr.

Joseph G. ""Joe"" Frye, Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Phoenixville Hospital. He was 83. Mr. Frye was a resident of Audubon, PA. He worked as a machine operator for Container Corp of America in Oaks, PA, for 44 years until his retirement in 1993. Joe was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Church in Betzwood. He was a member of VFW Post 1564, a social member of Friendship Fire Co. #2, and a life member of both the West End Fire Co. #3, all in Phoenixville, PA and of Locust Gap Fire Co. in Locust Gap, PA. He was very active in the United Paper Workers Union. Joe was a tough old coal cracker but also a loving person. Mr. Frye was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a Sergeant First Class from 1951 to 1953. Born in Mahanoy City, PA on May 25, 1928, he was a son of the late John Martin and Mary M. (Duppy) Frye. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Bernhardt) Frye, who died in 2010. Surviving is his loving family including four sons: James P. ""Bink"" Brown and his wife, Sue of Jamison, PA, Artie Brown and his wife, Lori of Duluth, GA, Joseph G. Frye, Jr. and his fiancé, Joanne Ryan of Audubon, PA and Robert W. Frye and his wife, Bernadette of Limerick, PA; two daughters, Pattie A. Walker and her husband, Fred of E. Norriton, PA and Mary Lou Hines of Norristown, PA; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Theresa Frye of Mt. Carmel, PA; a brother-in-law, Eugene Daloisio of Audubon, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and John ""Jack"" Frye. A Memorial Service will be held at The Club at Shannondell (Chadwick's), 2750 Egypt Rd., Audubon, PA 19403 on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 7:00pm. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday evening from 6 to 6:50pm, at Chadwick's in Shannondell. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
