Joseph G. Scandone

Joseph G. Scandone passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was 86. Mr. Scandone was a resident of W. Norriton, PA and was formerly of Bridgeport, PA and King of Prussia, PA. He worked as a supervisor for Peco in Plymouth Meeting, PA for 40 years, until his retirement in 1985. Joseph was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1941. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA and the L.A.M. Valley Forge Lodge 1776 Sons of Italy. Mr. Scandone was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving as a corporal from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theatre of Operations. Born in Norristown, PA on April 4, 1923, he was a son of the late Carmine C. Scandone, Sr. and Maria Grace (Sarni) Scandone. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 64 years, Emily T. (Bearoff) Scandone; three sons, Joseph A. Scandone of Thornton, PA, Albert F. "Bud" Scandone of Wilmington, DE and Jerry A. Scandone and his wife, Paula of Schwenksville, PA; seven grandchildren: MaryJo, Lizabeth, Jena, Ashley, Justin, Lauren and Alivia; four great-grandchildren: Melanee, Isabella, Jack and Matthew; a brother, Elmer Scandone and his wife, Florence of Bridgeport, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Anthony, Salvatore and Carmen, Jr.; and two sisters, Vera Mastercola and Margaret Mallace.Relatives & friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 11:00am.Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:50am, at the church.
