Joseph R. (Jay) Tittermary, 80, of Philadelphia, PA passed away suddenly on Tuesday,
October 18th, 2022. Jay was born in Darby, PA on April 29, 1942, a son of the late Marie (Erkert) and
Earl Tittermary. He was the brother of the late Dennis.
Jay was a longtime member of St. Leo the Great Church in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of numerous awards. He worked as an Historical Guide & Preservation Maintenance at Fort Mifflin on the Delaware. As an avid Revolutionary War Reenactor, he spent most of his Christmas Days Crossing the Delaware River at Washington's Crossing. Jay was a member of the First Continental Regiment, Holmesburg Fish & Game, Tacony American Legion Post #735, Rising Sun VFW Post #2819, and a scout leader for St. Leo's Boy Scout Troop #419, and involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over sixty years.
Jay is survived by a sister Marie, (wife of the late Gary Reinert), his brother, Alan Tittermary husband of Barbara, two nephews Keith Tittermary (Yi-Ping) and Brian Tittermary; He is also survived by his Great nephew Kai.
Public Visitation will be held 9:30 AM to 11 AM on Monday, October 24, 2022, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM, both at Our Lady of Consolation Church 7056 Tulip St. in Philadelphia, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life. His Interment will be private at the convenience of the Family in Washington Crossing National Cemetery Newtown, PA.
