Joe passed away at home with his family by his side on April 7, 2020, after a two-week battle with double pneumonia (from Coronavirus?). He would have been 89 in just three weeks. Joe was pre-deceased in 2008 by his loving wife of 52 years, Margery. He lived in Nottingham Village, Bensalem for 62 years. He was a U.S. Navy Petty Officer who lived three years aboard the U.S.S. Mt. Olympus General Communications #8 ship, that traveled worldwide during the Korean Conflict in the early 1950’s. Joe graduated from Dobbins Vocational-Technical High School in Phila. He was a printer by trade and remained a member of the Columbia Typographical Union, even throughout his retirement years. He worked for many local publishing and printing companies, before working in the U.S. Federal Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C., and lived there part-time for 19 years. Joe was always a “Mr. Fix-It” around his house and his older cars. He enjoyed reading, loved History, easy-listening music, and was an avid Philadelphia sports teams’ fan. He was a quiet, big and strong, very generous and kind man who truly loved his family, all animals, and nature. Joe is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ken Kellner), and Sharon (Jim Cullen), and a son, James (Dolores Toon). He also had four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Joe was an only child, but is survived by a cousin, Walt, whom he thought of as a younger brother. Joe’s funeral services did not take place in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Family and friends are invited to his memorial service on Saturday, April 24th at 11:00 AM in the Mausoleum building at Rosedale Memorial Park, 3850 Richlieu Rd., Bensalem, PA 19020, and burial of his cremains will immediately follow. Services entrusted to the Hoffmann Meyers Givnish Funeral Home. Bensalem, PA. Condolences: www.mcgoldrickfh.com
