Joseph F. Valerio

Joseph F. Valerio passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Suburban Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. He was 83. Mr. Valerio was a life-long resident of Bridgeport, PA. He was self-employed in the beverage business. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA, where he was an annual feast worker. He was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1943. In school he played baseball, football and basketball. Joseph was also a member of the VFW Post 840 in Bridgeport, PA, where he was a past commander and past president of their Home Association for over 40 years. Mr. Valerio was a US Army veteran of WW II. He served as a corporal from 1944 to 1946 in the European Theatre of Operations. Born in Bridgeport, PA on October 6, 1925, he was a son of the late John and Louise (Dambroso) Valerio. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 62 years, Rose M. (Petrucci) Valerio; two sons, Joseph F. Valerio, Jr. and his wife, Denise of King of Prussia, PA and Thomas M. Valerio and his wife, Beth of Blue Bell, PA: two grandchildren, TJ & Drew Valerio; two brothers, Daniel Valerio and his wife, Eleanor of Bridgeport, PA and Nicholas Valerio and his wife, Dorothy of Phoenixville, PA; a sister, Carmella Sutera of Plymouth Meeting, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Valerio. Relatives & friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 10:00am. His viewings will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8:00pm, at The Bacchi-Courtney Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 and Friday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the church.
