Josephine A. (Shields) Groff

Josephine A. "Joann" (Shields) Groff passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown, PA. She was 61. Mrs. Groff was a resident of E. Norriton, PA. She worked as a secretary for Joy Environmental in Great Valley, PA, which later became Ash Corporation where she was promoted to traffic manager. Joann was a graduate of Springford High School, Class of 1968. She loved drawing, painting and working in clay. She also enjoyed reading Robert Parker and Anne Rice novels, as well as Isaac Asimoff. Joann loved her cat, Jake, who picked her at the shelter. Born in Norristown, PA on October 22, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Barney and Mary (Roszko) Shields. Surviving is her loving family including her husband of 29 years, Lawrence M. "Larry" Groff; two brothers, Joe Bondi of Norristown, PA and Bernie Bondi of Philadelphia, PA; a sister, Jane Falotico and her husband, Frank, of Downingtown, PA; nieces and nephews: Erica and Dennis Rudzinski, Jim Groff Jr. and his wife, Shawna, Katie Groff, Lauren Groff, Carol Bondi, Mike Falotico and his wife, Lauren and Christy Falotico; two grand-nieces; cousins: Madge Allessandrini and her husband, Guido, Judy Packer, Ruth Novak, Mim Williams and her husband, Dennis and their son, Quentin; in-laws: Mary (Groff) & Jon Rudzinski, Tom & Sue Groff, Joe & Susan Groff, Jim & Mary Ellen Groff, John Groff & Gail Tatios, Terry Groff & Dave Dolby, and Linda Groff; friends: Parre, Cat, Trisha, Bunny and many friends of Bill W.Joann's Prayer Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202) Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning from 9 to 10:50 am, at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the request of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joann's memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428 and/or Kitty Cottage, 317 W. Johnson Highway, Norristown, PA 19401.
