Josephine H. (Torrente) Murphy

Josephine H. (Torrente) Murphy passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA. She was 63. Mrs. Murphy was a resident of the Swedeland section of Upper Merion Twp. She was a graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School, Class of 1968 and she earned her CLA from Sacred Heart Hospital. Josephine worked as a lab technician for local area medical facilities including Mercy Suburban Hospital and Fisher Scientific. She was a member of St. Augustine R.C. Church in Bridgeport, PA. She loved crocheting baby blankets, going to Wildwood, the Philadelphia Eagles and most of all, spending time with her family.Born in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, PA on June 3, 1950, she was a beloved daughter of Margaret M. (Leonard) Torrente of Royersford, PA and formerly of King of Prussia, PA and the late Joseph M. Torrente. Surviving is her loving family including her mother; her husband of 42 years, Joseph P. Murphy, Sr.; two sons, Joseph P. Murphy, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of King of Prussia, PA and Matthew J. Murphy and his girlfriend, Jessica L. Biscotti, of Swedeland, PA; a daughter, Megan Murphy and her boyfriend, Joseph McGoldrick, of Spring City, PA; two brothers, Michael J. Torrente and his wife, Kathy, of Decatur, GA and Frank C. Torrente and his wife, Theresa, of King of Prussia, PA; three sisters: Linda McCoy and her husband, Robert, of Gilbertsville, PA, Mary Sobotor and her husband, Gerald, of Royersford, PA and Margaret Meck and her husband, Bruce, of Mohnton, PA; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, and in-laws, Marie A. and Frank J. Murphy. Relatives & friends are invited to Josephine's Funeral Mass at St. Augustine R.C. Church, 464 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 11:00 am. Her viewing is Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:50 am, at the church.
