Josephine V. Slawecki

Josephine Slawecki, 97, of Wyncote, PA passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026. Josephine was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Julianna (Plechowiec) and Joseph Pondo. She lived in the city of Philadelphia for 87 years before moving to Wyncote.

The 9th of 10 (surviving) children, she was the first child in her family to continue, upon her insistence, education past 8th grade. She graduated from John W. Hallahan High School and became a stenographer. After her marriage to Bronislaw, she became a full-time homemaker. When Bron became ill, she brushed up on her steno skills and re-entered the workforce, working for the City of Philadelphia, lastly in the D.A.’s office, where she was beloved by the A.D.A.s. She enjoyed reading, watching sports, going to the casinos, life on Englewood Street and a good cheeseburger (but not a cold cheeseburger). The ever-faithful Eagles fan, she was thrilled to see her team win the Super Bowl.

Josephine is survived by her loving daughter, Cynthia Breen (George), grandchildren Gregory (Deborah), Christopher George (Lauren), and Gwendolyn. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Thursday, November 12th from 9:15-10:15 AM followed by her funeral mass at 10:30 AM both held at Immaculate Conception Church, 604 West Ave. Jenkintown, PA 19046. Her interment will be held at Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, 1400 Evans Road, Ambler, PA 19002, or the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal, 475 E. Chelten Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19144.
