Judith Ann (Divalerio) Scancella

July 13, 1946 — April 1, 2010

Judith A. (DiValerio) Scancella, age 63, of King of Prussia, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 1, 2010, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Judy was a 1964 graduate of Bishop Shannon High School in West Chester, PA. She worked as a teacher's aide with the Upper Merion Area School District for 25 years prior to her illness. Judy lived in Wayne, PA for several years before moving to Berwyn and then to King of Prussia. Her passions were her family, her faith, crossword puzzles, gardening and the Phillies. Judy dedicated her life to being a great mother, a loving wife and a true friend and neighbor. Kind and caring, she touched every life with which she came in contact. She was loved by so many and could touch a person's heart with just her smile. Judy was a friend to all that knew her and many considered her a second mother. She taught us to be kind to those who, in life, may never have had a friend; she showed us how to make everyone feel special and, by example, she proved to us it is a better life when every day is lived with love. Through her illness, she never complained and by her courage made it easier for those around her to bear this insidious disease along with her. She knew the meaning of respect and so treated all her caregivers with that same respect. Born in Bryn Mawr Hospital on July 13, 1946, she was a daughter of Mary (Scamuffa) DiValerio and the late Antonio DiValerio. She was the beloved wife of James F. Scancella, Sr.; loving mother of James F. Scancella, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Ardmore; sister of Rosemary (Vincent) Falcone. She was a devoted aunt to her nieces, Denise (Brett) McIntire and Donna (Cal) Boprey; grand-niece, Megan McIntire; grand-nephews, Caden McIntire and William Boprey. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at Our Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 10:00am. Her viewings will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8pm at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 and Wednesday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Monica Cemetery, Berwyn, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Judy's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
