Katherine Lee Mcgeehan

Katherine Lee McGeehan (nee Petherbridge), aged 65 , passed away suddenly on August 26, 2024 of natural causes.

Born on March 12, 1959 to the late Henry and Maxine Petherbridge and raised in Glenside and Cheltenham, Kathy was a beacon of strength, generosity and cheer throughout her life. Kathy graduated from Melrose Academy and Temple University and worked in health care before starting her own business with her beloved sister Karen, following in both her mother’s and father’s footsteps.

Kathy was given the greatest gift possible in 2002 when she became a heart transplant recipient. She lived the next 22 years to their fullest with family and friends and serving as an inspiration to many who knew her. Every day is a gift.

She leaves behind a loving family: her devoted husband Christopher McGeehan; her son and the light and joy of her life Spencer McGeehan; siblings Lynne, Anne, Jean and Mark as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maxine and her sister, Karen. Kathy’s constant companion was her Chihuahua Scrappy who was by her side every hour of every day.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gift of Life in memory of Kathy’s enduring spirit and love. Her legacy of warmth and kindness will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held in the coming weeks pending arrangements.
