Kathryn (Lawryk) Serafin

Kathryn "Kass" (Lawryk) Serafin passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014 at PowerBack Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hatboro, PA. She was 89, a resident of Willow Grove, PA and a member of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bridgeport, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 19, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William "Wasyl" and Pauline (Musick) Lawryk. She was the wife of the late Stanley A. Serafin, Sr., who died in 1978. Surviving is her loving family including two sons, Stanley A. "Stash" Serafin, Jr. of Willow Grove, PA and Richard A. Serafin of Palm Springs, CA; a daughter of her heart, Kathleen Kordek and her husband, Tom Bruderle, of Virginia and their sons, Matthew, David and his wife Megan and their son, Duncan; a brother, Michael Lawryk and his wife, Florence, of Sellersville, PA; a sister, Helen Jalloway; and many other loving nieces, nephews and family members. She was preceded in death by a brother, John, and three sisters: Mary Lawryk, Nellie Mscisz and Anna Popow.Kass had a strong belief in family life and always put family first. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers, baking and cooking for everyone, reading and telling a joke or two. She was devoted to helping the church and her catechism class.Relatives & friends are invited to Kass' Divine Liturgy at SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 519 Union Ave., Bridgeport, PA on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:00 am. Officiating Msgr. Dr. Ronald Popivchak, Pastor. Her viewing will be Wednesday from 10 to 10:50 am, at the church. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kass' memory to SS.
