Kendall Earl Hofmockel

June 21, 1930 — March 5, 2021

Kendall Earl Hofmockel, 90, husband of Marie Rose Hofmockel, of King of Prussia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, March 5, 2021. Born on June 21, 1930, he grew up in Sunman, Indiana, as the son of the late Wilbur and Aurella (Brinkman) Hofmockel. He and Marie were high school sweethearts, who wrote letters during Kendall's time at Purdue University. They were married on August 26, 1951, and Kendall graduated in June 1952 with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was drafted into the army in 1954, where he served with the Signal Corp at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, for two years in the aftermath of the Korean War. After he was honorably discharged, he went on to work for General Electric in Pennsylvania with the Aerospace Division where he worked for more than 30 years as a reliability engineer. He and Marie had 7 children, 13 grandchildren, 10.5 great-grandchildren and were heavily involved in the lives of extended family, friends and neighbors. Kendall was a kind, loving and generous family man who made fond memories with vacations to Key West, Hawaii and drove out West to the Grand Canyon and California with the whole family. He had an engineer's bright and curious mind with a knack for problem solving and a passion for woodworking. Kendall and Marie served as youth counselors and more at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Philadelphia and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in King of Prussia for many years and held other church offices. They joined The Compassionate Friends after the death of their son, Douglas Hofmockel and continued with it after the loss of their grandson, Steven Schneibolk. The group helped them through their grief as much as they contributed to it. They served as local chapter leaders and regional coordinators, organized regional and national conferences and ran a newsletter to help countless other families. Kendall was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed. His lifelong commitment to family, spirit of service to others and stories about growing up on a farm in Indiana will be passed down for generations to come. Kendall is survived by the love of his life for more than 69 years, Marie (Rose) Hofmockel. Also, his children, Teresa Fitzgerald (Robert), Pamela Schneibolk, Gwendolen Sullivan (Kenneth), Kevin Hofmockel (Jean), Cynthia Matosky (Matthew), Michael Hofmockel (Kirsten), and beloved niece, Marilynn Anton (Donald); 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gerald, Donald (Irma), and Carolyn. He is predeceased by his son, Douglas Alan Hofmockel; grandson, Steven Harry Schneibolk; parents, Wilbur and Aurella Hofmockel; and brother, John L. Hofmockel. Due to COVID, there will only be a private burial. His graveside service will be Live-Streamed on Tuesday, March 9 at 11:00 am.
