Kenneth H. "Smitty" Smith, Sr.

September 8, 1932 — April 20, 2017

Kenneth H. “Smitty” Smith Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Suburban Community Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. He was 84. Mr. Smith was a resident of Bridgeport, PA, where he lived with his son, Kenneth Jr. and granddaughter, Katlyn Smith. He was a steel worker for various steel companies in the area. Smitty was a life member of the Bridgeport Fire Co. #1, and a former Captain of the Fire Police. He was a Crossing Guard in Bridgeport, a handyman, and a hard worker who was active in his community. Kenneth was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1953 to 1955 in Germany. Born in Conshohocken, PA on September 8, 1932, he was a son of the late Harry and Martha (Dellaplain) Smith. He was the husband of the late Beverly A. (McMenamin) Smith, who died in 1993. Surviving is his loving family including two daughters, Maryellen Dudziak of Norristown, PA and Deborah Lee (Smith) of Greenville, NC; four sons: Kenneth H. Smith, Jr. (Jeannie) of Bridgeport, PA, Thomas J. (Robin) Smith of Birdsboro, PA, Dennis P. Smith of Bridgeport, PA and John P. Smith and his significant other, Tracy Simcox, of Reading, PA; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Serrabocco of Woodbine, NJ; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly A. McArdle; a granddaughter, Amanda Bressler; a grandson, Kenneth Smith, III; 5 brothers: Paul, Harry, Dan, Bobby and David Smith; and 4 sisters: Alice, Nellie, Emily and Jennette. Relatives & friends are invited to Kenneth’s Funeral Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00 am. His viewings are Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:00 pm; also, Thursday morning from 10 to 10:50 am, both at the funeral home. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Smitty’s memory to the Bridgeport Fire Co. #1, 72 W. 4th St., Bridgeport, PA 19405. Condolences at www.bacchifh.com
