L. Joseph Bates, Sr.

Bates L. Joseph, Sr. age 90, formerly of LaMott, PA passed peacefully on February 6, 2018. An Army Veteran, Carpenter, A life member of the LaMott Fire Company in Cheltenham Township, and Police officer retiring from the Cheltenham Police Department. Beloved Husband of Mary Jane (Nee Livezey) for 63 years. Father of Mitzie (the late Bill), Joe (Colleen), Jane (Skip), Betsy (Ray), Michael (Mac), Mark (Lyn Anne) and the late Nancy (David). Brother of Muriel and the late Dorothy Elder. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday February 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM and Monday the 12th. from 8:30 to 9:30 AM both at Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home 507 West Ave. Jenkintown, PA 19046 with services on Monday at 10 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
