Laura Elaine Finnerty

Laura Elaine Finnerty, 87, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away Thursday, February 29th, 2024 peacefully, at Jeanes Hospital, in Philadelphia.

Laura was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Laura M. (Karlinska) and Robert H. Smith.

She was the widow of Edward J. Finnerty who preceded her on June 8, 2010. They were married at St. Leo’s Church and spent 52 happy years together.

She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Philadelphia, PA where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

Laura worked as an Office Manager at Sandra Whipple, MD before retiring in 1999. She was a volunteer at Fox Chase Cancer Center from 2010 to 2020.

Laura was the beloved wife of the late Edward and is survived by two loving daughters, Patricia Rosenberger (Barry) of Pottstown and Kathleen Green, of Philadelphia. She was the devoted Mom-Mom to Robert Whaley (Kaleigh), Leslie Basile (Mike), Sean Whaley (Lacey), Bill Green (Samantha), Jessica Green (Anthony) & Kristin Green (Jarred). Great Grandmother of Rowyn and Mikey Basile & Jordan and Eddie Whaley.

A Public Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:20am on Tuesday, March 5th at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 7056 Tulip St. Philadelphia, PA 19135. Following, a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30am. The Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Huntingdon Valley, PA.
