Laura P. Koch (nee Yackamovitch), 56, of Lansdale, PA passed away suddenly on Tuesday December 27, 2022, at her residence. Laura was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 4, 1966, to James L. and Natalie (nee Rogers) Yackamovitch. She is the loving sister of Joseph (Bernadette) and Leo (Jenny).
Laura is also survived by her partner Joe Mazzarella and his children Joey and Sofia, her stepmother Pam Yackamovitch, stepbrothers Christopher Horner (Heather) and Geoff Horner, her niece and nephews, Natalie McKnight (Mark), Tim Yackamovitch, Joseph Yackamovitch, several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins and friends all of whom she loved very deeply.
Laura lived a life full of spirit and her smile and laugh would command the room. She grew up in North Hills, PA and would often recall fond memories of visiting her Grandparents house in the Juniata section of Philadelphia. Laura attended Queen of Peace Elementary School, and Bishop McDevitt High School. After High School Laura spent time in Texas, Virginia, and Colorado before returning to live in Pennsylvania. After her return to Pennsylvania Laura worked at Super Fresh and Enterprise where she made and maintained many friendships.
Laura had many fun memories of her family vacations to Ocean City, MD with her many cousins, her summer in Cape May, her trips to the shore camp site, and numerous girl's weekends to the Poconos and the shore.
Laura had so much love in her heart and would always have a kind word or listening ear to someone that needed it. Her hugs were so genuine and are known to those that know her as “Laura Hugs.”
Laura loved animals and cared for many in her lifetime. Her most recent cat Clint will miss her dearly.
Laura loved playing games, shooting pool, watching “silly” reality TV, listening to Howard Stern, and socializing with friends and family. Laura loved to travel and especially enjoyed the city of New Orleans where she visited multiple times with her partner Joe. One of Laura’s favorite days of the year was New Year’s Day where she would watch the Mummers Parade from start to finish.
Laura’s genuine heart and personality touched everyone that she had ever met. Her spirit and smile would light up any room she entered. Laura will forever be our “Spirit in the Sky.”
