Laurie Jeanne Russen, 61, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at her childhood home in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Laurie was a former resident of Princeton, New Jersey. Laurie was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of Joseph A. Russen Sr. and the late Kathleen (Scanlan) Russen. A 1982 graduate of Upper Merion High School, Laurie graduated from Albright College in 1986.
Laurie was an accomplished fundraising professional for organizations including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Villanova Law School, Washington University School of Law, and Princeton University. In over two decades with Princeton’s Office of Advancement, Laurie became a friend to many, including faculty and administrators, and was a trusted colleague
known for her attention to detail and willing partnership. Throughout her life, Laurie cultivated relationships that turned into enduring friendships.
During the summer months, Laurie could be found at her beloved Avalon, NJ — basking in a sunny day on the beach and then spending time with lifelong friends listening to live music in the evenings. Laurie loved attending the theatre and meticulously planned weekend Broadway excursions to New York City whenever possible. A true Philly sports fan, Laurie loved cheering
on the Phillies and Eagles and watching the games with friends and family.
Above all, Laurie was devoted to her family and was a constant source of strength, love, and unwavering support. She never missed a family dinner or a drive to church on Sunday with her adoring Dad. Her niece and nephew were a constant source of pride and she took every opportunity to attend their sporting events and school celebrations. Laurie knew the value of family and meaningful friendships and lived her life in a manner that nourished those bonds with warmth, generosity, and laughter.
Predeceased by her mother, Kathleen Russen, Laurie is survived by her father, Joseph. A. Russen Sr, brothers, Christopher J. Russen and Joseph A. Russen Jr, her sister Michele (Russen) Davey, her brother-in-law Marcus Davey, and her beloved niece and nephew, Arden and Jack Davey. In addition to her devoted family, Laurie leaves behind a legacy of kindness — displayed
in big and in small ways —and a multitude of loved ones whose lives are all the richer for having been her friend.
