Lawrence H. Myers, died peacefully at Riddle Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at age 85. A resident of Springfield, Delaware County, PA, Lawrence recently retired from his duties managing several businesses including Universal Services Associates (which began as a scale model shop and now specializes in the custom fabrication of museum exhibits), USA Engineering, and SDB Constructors. Graduated from Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (B.S. in Zoology, 1951) and Pennsylvania State University (M.S. Wildlife Management, 1952), Mr. Myers left biology to pursue numerous business ventures in his six decades as an entrepreneur, and took special pride in the creation in 1966 of the Wawa and Concordville Railroad, a testament to his lifelong love affair with steam-era railroading. Lawrence was a US Army veteran of WW II. Proud of his Pennsylvania heritage and patriotic to the core, he possessed a ready wit, and great personal charm. He was both frugal and generous, extremely loyal to friends, family, and employees, a great lover of family gatherings and home-style Pennsylvania Dutch cooking.Born on September 13, 1927 in Quakertown, PA, he was a son of the late Clarence B. and Josephine (Rosenberger) Myers-Heller. Surviving is his loving family are two sons, Michael C. Myers and his wife, Kathleen, of King of Prussia, PA and Mark A. Myers of Philadelphia, PA; two grandchildren, Austin and Audrey; two brothers, David Myers and his wife, Norma, of Quakertown, PA and Richard Myers and his wife, Phyllis, of Pittsburgh, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margot J. Myers. Relatives and friends are invited to Lawrence's Funeral Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202) Bridgeport, PA on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:00 am. His viewings will be Thursday from 6 to 8:00 pm; & Friday from 9 to 9:50 am, both at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, W. Norriton.
