Leroy D Souza

Leroy (Lee) D. Souza, born in Oakland, California, son of Manuel Souza and Isabel Rocha, went home to be with God on Sunday February 16, 2025. He was preceded by his wife of 68 years, Lillian (Lil) A. Clark. Lee is survived by his daughters, Laura Bonstingl and Lynne Shinozaki (Micheal), grandchildren, Brent Bonstingl, Kristin Schrenzel (Adam), Joseph Strong, Haley Shinozaki, and Mark Shinozaki, and great grandson, Jackson Schrenzel.

Lee and Lil met in the FBI when Lee was serving as an agent and Lil was head of communications for the San Francisco office. Lee attended San Francisco State University while working for the FBI and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Science making him the first in his family to graduate from college. Lee and Lil married in 1954 and moved across the country with the FBI while caring for two daughters and a menagerie of pets. They ended up in King of Prussia in 1965. Lee owned a gym with his partner, Bruce, which he had for 20 years. Lee taught boxing and martial arts. His favorite hobby was antiquing, specializing in Asian antiques. After managing the gym, Lee changed paths and began a dog training business. Other professions throughout his life included running various food businesses, coaching tennis instructors, private investigation, and antique dealing.

Lee spent the last years of his life surrounded by his closest friend and partner, Lil, up until her passing. He enjoyed following basketball, watching birds, growing flowers, and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed, but his family takes solace in knowing that he has rejoined his beloved Lil.

The service for Lee Souza will take place on Saturday February 22, 2025 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church of Valley Forge. Greetings will begin at 11:00 am with service to follow at 12:00 pm.
