Loretta Valerio

January 28, 1928 — July 23, 2021

Loretta (Toro) Valerio passed away peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021, at the age of 93. She was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Lalla) Toro-Scandone of Norristown. She married John Valerio of Bridgeport on October 19, 1947 and they lived many years in King of Prussia. Loretta was employed at Upper Merion Junior High School Cafeteria and The Woods for over 30 years and was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Bridgeport. She enjoyed her last years residing at The Landing of Collegeville. Loretta took pleasure in the many aspects of being a homemaker, and passed along her love of cooking, breadmaking, gardening, canning, and sewing to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Loretta was predeceased by her husband, John Valerio; sister, Antoinette Petro; brother, James Toro; step-sisters: Lucy Mizak, Jenny Hunsicker, Connie Messere, and May Stelmach; step-brothers: Joseph Scandone, Ralph Scandone, John Scandone and Alexander Scandone; and long-time companion, Tony DiGiambattista. Loretta is survived by her children: Janet (Edwin) Fitzgerald, Louise (Dan) Ensz, Marie (Hal) Schneider, Carmen (Joanne) Valerio, John Valerio (Penny Gordon); her grandchildren: Joseph, William, Brian, Rebecca, Colleen, Gina, Lauren; and great-grandchildren: Acony, Juniper, Reed, Theodore, Eliza, Penelope; and her half-brother, Joseph (Cassie) Scandone. There will be a visitation at the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA on Wednesday, July 28 starting at 10am, followed by a Prayer Service at 11am. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia.
