Lyle W. Hall, Jr., 65, a Philadelphia real estate investment banker, was killed in a motor vehicle accident in Palm Beach County, Florida on Sunday, February 20, 2010.Mr. Hall, who grew up in Upper Merion, had been retired from real estate investing and financing for some time. "For Lyle, retirement was more a 'figure of speech' ", according to his brother-in-law, David Ward. "Lyle kept his incredible business mind engaged in the banking business, real estate and the nursing home industry and he was always available to help out friends and colleagues with business advice. He was a serious and determined investor who always thought things through in a clear eyed way", Ward added. Mr. Hall was a Director of First Bank of Delaware, was President of Deilwydd Partners, a real estate and financing consulting firm and served as President of Montalcino, LLC, a manager of nursing and assisted living facilities. Mr. Hall graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1962 and served in Germany for the U.S. Army. He was a Temple University graduate and had earned his CPA license. For many years he had been a real estate finance executive and investment banker with Butcher & Singer, once a major brokerage and investment firm in the region.Mr. Hall met his wife, Kathy, while both worked together at Butcher & Singer. "He and Kathy loved to travel in Europe which they did every year. He loved his family and friends. He was an incredible and creative cook and knew all of the neighborhood restaurants from the inside out" added Sam Katz, Mrs. Hall's brother. "Lyle loved life and his loss will create a huge emptiness for his extended family and friends" Katz noted. Hall had a passion for antique motorcycles and was a member of the Brough Superior Motorcycle Club. Every year, he made a month long cycle trip through Europe. He also owned several small boats which he enjoyed sailing in the inter-coastal waterways near his Jupiter, Florida home.Born in Roderdam Junction, NY on August 12, 1944, he was a son of Lyle W. Hall, Sr. and the late Grace L. (VanAntwerp) Hall. Surviving are his loving family including his father; his wife of twenty years, Kathy (Katz) Hall; son, Lyle W. Hall, III of Los Angelos, CA; daughter, Tara (Hall) Johnson and her husband, Josh of Philadelphia, PA; sister, Marsha Bates and husband, Kenneth of Colorado Springs; brother, Bruce Hall of King of Prussia, PA; sister, Beth Ward and her husband, David of West Chester; and many nephews and nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb Street (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:00am. Friends may call Saturday morning from 10 to 10:50am, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery, Valley Forge National Park, Valley Forge, PA.
