Mafalda A. (Gambone) Griffo

Mafalda Anna (Gambone) Griffo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at PowerBack Rehab in Norristown, PA. She was 90. Mrs. Griffo was a resident of W. Norriton, PA. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Bridgeport High School and was employed at several jobs until the time of her marriage. She was also devoted to the care and protection of her mother until her death in 1987. Mafalda was an excellent conversationalist who loved reading, knitting, crocheting and sewing.Born in Bridgeport, PA on June 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and C. Caterina (Scandone) Gambone. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Carmen C. Griffo; two sons, Carmen and David of W. Norriton; a brother, Salvatore & Jane Gambone of Allentown; three sisters, Pearl Ritrovato of Bridgeport, Gilda Costanzo of Norristown and Amelia Brodie of Royersford; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John; and a sister, Alba Campbell.Relatives and friends are invited to Mafalda's Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton St., Norristown, PA on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 10:30 am. Her viewing is Friday from 9:30 to 10:15 am, at the church.
