Marcella M. Wall

Marcella Marie Schorn Wall, 102, of Ocean City, NJ, formerly of Jenkintown, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 peacefully at UMC, The Shores United Methodist Community, Ocean City, NJ.

Marcella was born in Woolwich Township, NJ on July 11, 1920, a daughter of the late Rose (Gruber) and Joseph Schorn. She was the widow of Edward J Wall, Jr., who she married on January 2, 1945 in Presentation BVM, Cheltenham, PA. She was a former member of Immaculate Conception BVM Church in Jenkintown, PA, where she daily prayed for her family and friends and regularly was seen collecting donations for Pro Life in the foyer after Sunday Mass.

Marcella graduated from Hallahan High School in 1938 then went on to graduate from St. Mary’s Nursing School in 1941. She was employed at Arcadia College (formerly Beaver College) for 20 years, where she loved caring for the students. Prior to Beaver College, she had been employed at Standard Press Steel as an on-site nurse.

Marcella especially loved the ocean, visiting it yearly until she finally made Ocean City, NJ, her permanent home in 2003. She rode her bicycle on the Ocean City Boardwalk until she was 90 years old! She loved all kinds of gatherings of family and friends. As part of her strong Pro Life beliefs, she was a founding Board Member of the Our Lady’s House in Jenkintown, PA. Never missing an opportunity to pray, she was part of a group of ladies called The Muffins, who would meet after mass at Immaculate Conception for a muffin and to pray for the needs of others. She especially loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All were welcomed to visit her down the shore and in the early 1980’s in cabins at World’s End State Park in central Pennsylvania. During her years at Wesley, she made many friends with whom she would meet frequently to pray the Rosary. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Marcella is survived by her children Michael (Diana) Wall of Williamsport, PA, Edward (Elaine) Wall of Rome, PA, Rosemarie Rhine of Galloway, NJ, Greg Wall of Oriental, NC, John (Susan) Wall of North Wales, PA, and Timothy (Elaine) Wall of McLean, VA.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Karen (Todd) Childress, Emily Wall, Brendan Wall, Kerry (Jason) Hawk, Allison Wall, Eddie (Saori) Wall, Marie (John) Dennis, Joseph (Maura) Wall, Jr., Shawn (Andy) Kalback, Katie Rhine, Patrick Rhine, Marlee (Chris) Valos, Rory Wall, Shane (Callen) Wall, Christian Wall, John Michael (Alex Christine) Wall, Lauren (Adam) Decker, Kristin O’Connor and 18 great-grandchildren with one more expected in December.

She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Edward Wall, Jr, her brothers Joseph Schorn, Jerry Schorn, and George Schorn, her sister Marie Schorn Reidy, her sons Jerry Wall of Upper Black Eddy, PA, and Joseph Wall of Jenkintown, PA, and her son-in-law, David Rhine, of Galloway, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, both on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022 at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, 602 West Ave. in Jenkintown, PA. Her interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
