Margaret M. “Peg” Mehl age 83 of Audubon, Pa. passed away peacefully on Friday, August 05, 2016 at Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. Born in Philadelphia, to the late Charles M. and Margaret H. (Crowley) Kleaver. She is also preceded in death by her son, George Gerad and 2 sisters, Dolores Perkins (Sam) and Rose Vinciguerra (Tony). Peg is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles E. Mehl; 7 children, Margaret Wiszumerski (Gary), Charles III (Christina), Patricia Hanson (Geoff), Martin (Tara), John (Lisa), Regina Collins (Tom) and Phillip; 3 sisters, Charlotte Mazzenga (Louis), Joyce Vinciguerra (Joseph) and Patricia Glim (Peter); 2 brothers, Charles Kleaver, Jr. (Diana) and John Kleaver (Celeste); 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. A woman and of tremendous energy and drive, Peg lived her entire life helping others. First as the oldest of eight, she helped raise several of her younger siblings. Then as a nurse, graduating from St. Mary’s in 1954, she worked at several institutions, providing care for so many, from geriatric patients at Norristown State Hospital, to delivering newborns at Sacred Heart Hospital, Norristown, where she retired in 1994. A devoted member of Visitation BVM parish and school, while raising seven children she volunteered her time in the cafeteria, at the annual Christmas Bazaar, entering the classroom to lead “Art Goes to School” and served as Cub Scout Pack Leader. Church was a special place for Peg, where she prayed daily and served in countless ways, from Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Pre Cana, RCIA, Adoration Chapel, Pro Life, and Bible Study,, . Peg helped all those in need, from total strangers she encountered along the way, to handing out much needed assistance at the Norristown Food Pantry, and her involvement with the Missionaries of Charity. Peg cherished spending time with friends and her large extended family at annual reunions, visits to friend’s & relative’s homes, trips to Cape May, and hosting at her home in Audubon. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 7-9 pm. Tuesday and again from 9:45-10:45 am. Wednesday followed by a funeral mass at 11 am. Wednesday, August 10th at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd. Norristown, Pa. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Peg’s memory may be made to Mom’s House, 145 Main Street, Phoenixville, Pa 19460.
