Margaret Ester Shepperd (Orban), 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at The Landing of Collegeville in Collegeville, PA. Born October 23, 1923 in Jersey City, N.J., Margaret was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Orban (Gyure). She moved to Franklin Township in Hunterdon County, N.J. in 1930 and lived there until 2016, when she moved to King of Prussia, PA to live with her son, Mark and his wife, Brenda. Margaret graduated from Clinton High School in 1941. She attended Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Pittstown, N.J and was their oldest living member. Margaret worked at Ipana Toothpaste in Hillside, N.J., FL Smidth in Lebanon, N.J. and later at the Hunterdon County Extension Center in Flemington, N.J. However, the occupation she loved the most was caring for her husband, the late Kenneth R. Shepperd and her three sons: Glenn, Gary & Mark Shepperd, at their home of 68 years in Pittstown, N.J. Margaret was a sharp card player and especially enjoyed playing a good game of pinochle and canasta. She was also an avid bird watcher, talented artist and photographer. She loved spending time playing and laughing with her grandchildren, and recently met her 1st great-grandchild. Margaret and her husband, Ken, loved to travel, especially to the Northwestern portion of the U.S.A, including a cruise in Alaska and flying to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They also enjoyed taking frequent road trips to Pennsylvania. Those adventures included stops in Amish country, Gettysburg, and to their cabin in Tioga County, Pa. Predeceased by her parents, her brother, Joseph Orban, Jr. and her beloved husband Ken, Margaret is survived by her son, Glenn Shepperd of Washington, N.J., her son, Gary Shepperd and his wife, Sharon of Littleton, Co. and her son, Mark Shepperd and his wife, Brenda of King of Prussia, Pa. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Allison (Shepperd) and her husband, Jonathan Hammond of Littleton, Co., Gregory Shepperd and his wife, Hillary of Castle Rock, Co., Anthony Shepperd and Nicholas Shepperd of King of Prussia, Pa. Margaret also has one great-grandchild, Colson Hammond of Littleton, Co. A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, February 1st at the Elks Lodge, 494 Ford Street in Bridgeport, Pa. Family will receive visitors beginning at 9:30 am, with Margaret’s service beginning at 11 am, followed by fellowship. A private burial ceremony will be held at Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, N.J., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Margaret Shepperd to the Quakertown Volunteer Fire Company, Station 91.
